At the SIG meeting this evening there was some discussion about how long it
would take to scan an entire book. Coincidentally, I just saw a description
of the Fujitsu Scansnap, which costs about $300, has a sheet feeder, and
scans both sides of the sheet simultaneously in 5 or 6 seconds. That means
a 500-page book (250 sheets) could be scanned in less than half an hour.
Available software for the gadget produces both a PDF **and* does an OCR
pass to produce a .TXT version.
