Last week the Facilities Manager told me that he was going to meet with the contractor's site supervisor and find out the progress being made on several things that needed to be remedied. He also said that until I get word that my staff can't get into the building to set up. I estimate that I will need at least one month to get everything in order before we open. That means that if we don't get word until sometime next month, that the opening date may have to slide, as much as I dislike the idea. You will like the new building, though. It is very open with lots of natural light and an excellent meeting room. I plan to begin taking forms, if we open as scheduled on 4/25, on May 4th. Reservations made then will run to the end of this calendar year. Reservations for the following year will be taken in November of this year. I hope you can attend the grand opening. At this time, the contractor is engaged in replacing the pervious concrete on the site, as it failed inspection, and is working toward completion of the owner's punch list of items remaining to be installed, replaced or repaired according to the terms of the construction contract. The contractor is also working to redress a list of items identified by the building inspector as needing correction before a Certificate of Occupancy can be issued. The Library Department is closely monitoring the contractor's progress toward to completion and stands ready to begin moving furniture, equipment and collections into the facility as soon as it is legally able to do so. Thus, I presume, April 25 opening and May 4 registration has been pushed again...
